WMA Race Walk Panel

Rule 116 - Establishment of a WMA Race Walk Panel

The panel shall be:

Race Walk judges selected and approved by WMA VP non-stadia
Experienced race walk judges in Masters Athletics from a variety of countries

All judges will serve a probationary period before final approval as a WMA race walk Judge.
A list of approved WMA race walk Judges will be placed on the WMA Website.
All WMA race walking championship judges shall only be those approved by the Non-Stadia VP no later than one month prior to the championship.

NEW VICTORIAN MASTERS WALK RECORD CATEGORY

Clyde Riddoch has now published the inaugural records list for the new Victorian Masters 15 km Roadwalk Record category. Congratulations to the inaugural record holders. Clyde advises that there are no current plans to expand to Australian or WMA records.

Results for the 2009 VMA 5,000m Race Walk Championships at Mentone Venue's Track on 22 Mar 09, and the 3,000m and 1500m events at the VMA T & F Championships, 28-29 Mar 09, are available via the VMA Championship results link.


IAAF Rule 230 Applies to Race Walk Championships

"Race Walking is a progression of steps so taken that the walker makes contact with the ground, so that no visible (to the human eye) loss of contact occurs. The advancing leg shall be straightened (i.e. not bent at the knee) from the moment of first contact with the ground until the vertical upright position."


Race Entry Details

Entry for the VMA Marathon is as per the dates for the Melbourne Marathon. All other VMA events, other than AV/VMA combined championships, can be entered on the day (please report in at least 30 minutes prior to the advertised start time). Competitors wishing to enter events conducted by Athletics Victoria, Australian Masters Athletics and other organizations need to follow the requirements as set out by the relevant body.

Race fees and entry dates vary with different events, please be careful to ensure that you obtain the correct details for the event that you want to participate in. To participate in VMA events you must be a financial member of Victorian Masters Athletics. For details of current fees please see the VMA website or ask your local venue manager. If you are unsure if you have paid your fees for the current year please contact the Club Registrar, Astrid Rose Ph 9836 2350 for confirmation.

Medals and Random Prizes

In all events specified as VMA events medals will be awarded to the first 3 placegetters in each division for both men and women (CORRECT uniform is required). In addition to this all entrants will go into a draw for valuable prizes that will be available for collection at the event. You don't have to win a medal to be a winner!
